Appearence
Pikmin come in many colors and different types. Originally in the first game (Pikmin), the basic colors were Red, Yellow and Blue Pikmin and secretly a mushroom dark purpled pikmin (which were only caused by posionus gas of a Puffstool. Red pikmin were ones with noses and strongest of the group also being fire proof. Blues had mouths and able to be water resistant. Yellows were the ones with ears, lightest and able to be thrown at higher places and carry bomb rocks. Mushroom Pikmin are changed pikmin that are dark purple with a mushroom instead of the leaf, bud, or flower. They attack Olimar rather helping him out. Each pikmin as they evolve, start off with a leaf on their head, followed by a bud and flower. Each speeds up their movement and also strengthens them too. The color of the bud and flower are white. In the second game (Pikmin 2), Yellow Pikmins have been updated by becoming electric proof and able to take down electric gates. There are two new types of pikmin and a loss of a pikmin species as well as the new Bulbmin. They are the Purple Pikmin and white Pikmin. The Mushroom Pikmin were removed from the game. Purple and White Pikmin share the same characteristics bud and flower wise. Instead of being white, they are purple. Purple Pikmin are the strongest and weigh 5x as Olimar. They have eyelashes and are fatter then the other Pikmin. They are the slowest too and only can be thrown half way, they are not any kind of resistant to any element. White pikmin have red eyes instead of the normal white with pupils. It is helped to see things buried underground. They are the shortest of the group, fastest, and when eaten, often kill enemies straight on due to their poison they hold. They are immune to poison. The Bulbmin are a big thing in cave levels where they are genetically engineered by Pikmins with Bulborbs. Together, they create Bulbmin which are immune to every element. However, as a side effect, they can only stay under ground rather then being brought up to the surface. The player has the oppertunity to change their physical form into a pikmin type with the help of Candypop Buds. In the third installment (Pikmin 3), two more pikmin are added to the series. Rock Pikmin, which are shaped like rocks, that can shatter glass, and Winged Pikmin, which are pink, same eyes as White Pikmin, but blue, and can fly with wings.
